I have a little sapphire and silver cross my brother got me for Christmas almost two decades ago. It's pretty, but I don't wear it much. If you think about it, it's an odd thing to wear around your neck; sort of the ancient equivalent to a noose, a guillotine, or an electric chair, except for crucifixion was far crueler.

If you're looking for an organization to donate to in order to help victims of sexual assault and trafficking, particularly minors, this one is very good. While it's heartbreaking to know what this poor girl went through, it's good to see that some of these monsters are being taken off the streets and put where they belong, especially closer to home. Regardless of whether or not 500+ years is enough of a punishment, he won't be able to hurt her again, or anyone else.
